Yonder Journal Prints!

image imageYou guys like prints?! Heck… we sure do, and Yonder Journal just so happens to have two for your purchasing pleasure.

“This print would look lovely on your wall, but more importantly, it will continue to fund Yonder Journal endeavors. Think of it as a Kickstarter, without the annoying Facebook updates and emails.” – YJ

Go pick’em up. Frame’em. Get motivated. Go Yonder.

John Went AWOL

Prolly Awol Prolly Cold FrontI always love Mr. Watson’s ride recaps. They are inspiring to push just a little bit harder in developing an eye for photography and getting out there/getting rad!  Enjoy. These are two of my favorite shots from his “Going AWOL in the Diablo Range“. Go check out the rest!

Sitka // Strange Things Trailer

Strange Things from Sitka on Vimeo.

Sitka is always nailing it! I love everything about this. I can’t wait to watch it. Enjoy!

“Pipe Dreams rarely come to life. Often they are a result of over-consumption, and just as often, they are forgotten by the time the sun rises. On that rare occasion however, when the cosmos align, these dreams really do have a chance to become reality. I had first made the Yukon claim some years ago under such very circumstances. From time to time the idea would pop up again, excitement would rise, yet seemingly would recede back into pile of “maybe’s” and “one day’s”. Until finally the day came where logistics were settled, and it seemed as if it may be a plausible journey after all. With several recent additions to the Sitka team and the Yukon on the table, it seemed only natural to head towards this uncharted skateboard territory. And so alongside Chris Haslam, Sheldon Meleshinski, Brett Stobbart, Colin Nogue, Zach Barton, Fabian Merino and Dane Pryds, accompanied by our two master lensmen Ben Gulliver and Dave Ehrenreich; adventures were well in the making under these 24 hours of sun.”

Go to Sitka and check out their radness!

Mr. Adam Kachman

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetI’ve been following Adam’s Instagram feed as he captures rad folks like Aaron Edge and Joshua Bryant smashing up the mountains of Portland and I decided it was time to show appreciation for doing so. It’s personally motivating and I wanted to share with you fine folks. He was also kind enough to answer one simple question. I hope you enjoy.

Why do you ride?

Riding has become an integral part of who I am, and has shaped my life for the past few years. When I first moved to Portland, I swapped my mountain bike for a road bike, grabbed a Rapha cue sheet and rode the rock creek route for the first time. At the top of the Cornell-Thompson climb my lungs felt like wet plastic bags on the side of the road, and my legs were somehow even worse off than that. It was one of the greatest things i had experienced on two wheels.  That was the beginning of riding and racing for the next  two years.

The feeling of climbing to the top of Lolo Pass ( or YOLO Pass, as i exuberantly yelled on the descent) in the middle of December navigating snow, ice , wind, rain, and sub freezing temperatures all while on a road bike is uniquely blissful.

Thus, I ride to find forgotten roads and old forsaken towns by the way of gravel roads that make the perfect sound beneath your tires. I ride for the pre-ride espresso, the looks exchanged at the summit, and for the moments of clarity you arrive at aftering pushing yourself to the absolute limit.

It’s all about suffering together through adventure, discovery, and exploration. Processed with VSCOcam with g3 presetAK2Processed with VSCOcam with b5 preset Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
