Film // Starting At The Bottom

BigBlue Railroad DitchI’m on my 3rd roll of film and I think I’m starting to get the hang of how this low end Vivitar PS:30 works best as well as film in general. To date all photos posted have been with and iPhone. I wanted to expand my knowledge of photo taking so I figured “why not start at the bottom and work up”. The Vivitar PS:30 has allowed me to do just that.

OH… what’s that? You want to know what my dream point x shoot camera is? That would be a Yashica T4 as it should be. Just go check out TytaniumLife and The Athletic.

I hope you enjoy the photos below. They are from several different events.

Wheeler Get Lost Ride

WR4I had the opportunity to just go ride (a.k.a. no agenda or time limit due to other things needing my attention). I had the route I wanted to ride in mind but wasn’t quite certain if that was going to be the full ride for the day. I revisited this 3-5 mile dirt path following railed roads that link up with a road that would take me further out into the country. I went out and knew of an inlet that would take me to Wheeler Wildlife Refuge routes I had ridden previously.

I start heading to Wheeler. As I’m approaching the well known routes, I see this side gate open in the opposite direction. I take it. It leads me in and out of the woods into farm land and wild life refuge areas that are absolutely stunning. I took several different turns carelessly riding until I couldn’t make out a path ahead.

All in all the ride was only about 45 miles and for the first time in a very long time, I truly felt lost. My phone only had 20’ish percent battery left or else there would be a lot more pictures taken. Normally that wouldn’t stop me but I forgot to pack an extra tube; a previous ride took it out and the thought hit me that If I’m 10-15 miles away from civilization… it would be a good thing to be able to call for a pick up or tube drop off.

This particular railed road is marked as a “Private Railroad”. Not sure what that means but it makes me think of sneaky smuggling for some reason. WR3The first opening into the new dirt/gravel road.WR6Wooded path entranceWRIt was a big contrast from the open clouded sunshine. Dark with the sound of my tires crushing rock and dirt; woodland creatures scurrying in the trees and forest floor.  Processed with VSCOcam with m6 presetBack into open land. Processed with VSCOcam with m6 presetThere was one point where a damn crossed a section of the refuge into the Tennessee River. It would be a great place to ride to, beer in tote, and watch the sun set.

This was a super rad ride that I’ll revisit several times. Feel free to get in touch if you’re in the local area to ride along. Cheers!

Wraith Fabrication

imageBAM!!! Adam Eldridge has yet again knocked it out of the park.

“Woah! It’s been five years of building full custom frames at Stanridge for good friends all over the world. The Stanridge philosophy recalls a bygone era of manufacturing, before dollars and the bottom line ruled every decision. Wraith will be no different.

We all dream. My dream has been to introduce another line of handmade frames, offer a custom fin, and spread my enthusiasm of the ride to folks that haven’t been able to throw a leg over a Stanridge.

We want to have fun. Shred. It doesn’t matter what kind of bike you’re on. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. Our machines are made here in the USA by hand. We’re celebrating the brotherhood. It’s about the ride. It’s about getting more folks on a crazy nice frame. We want to see where you ride. We want to hear about your adventures. It’s an honest, sincere desire to fit folks on the best bikes possible. No over design, just simple items made from the best materials available”. – Adam Eldridge – Owner of Wraith Fabrications

WraithMake sure to head over to Wraith Fabrication and pre-order “The Hustle” before pre-orders are all gone. There are only 6 left!!

If I wasn’t already building up two other bikes this sucker would be mine in a heartbeat! Cheers Adam!! Really pumped to see this happen.
