Element x TIMBER! // Spring 2015 Capsule Collection

SO. RAD!!!!!!

I’m instantly in love with this. Element has always been on board… with so many creative folks!

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

“Element is proud to introduce the Element x TIMBER! Collection, inspired by recreational biking: The second capsule collection with Element advocate, Chad Eaton aka TIMBER!, this collection presents a combination of lifestyle classics with vintage bike inspiration and a touch of modern functionality.

The collection was created around the idea and under Element’s motto “Keep discovering” – while traveling across countries on a bike. It is a lifestyle collection that includes technical and functional features for biking like reflective labels and trims. Highlights are for instance the “Tourer”, a cone mills selvedge mechanical flex denim, made in USA, with reflective print at the cuff.

Also, the denim jacket “Porteur” provides some special features that combine a lifestyle product with functionality for bicycling. Reflective details make sure to be seen at night while biking and it also features a longer back fit and shoulder gussets which provide more comfort.

Another key item and one of the more functional products is the shell jacket “ Randonneur”, a 2.5 layer shell jacket, waterproof with great breathability, reflective 3M trims, and compactable into its own custom pouch.

Since Element advocate TIMBER! is also a passionate bicyclist, it was just a matter of time Element came up with a special capsule collection around the bicycle theme. Besides the lifestyle products and appropriate accessories, this line also includes a number of TIMBER! advocate teesmade of organic cotton, all featuring his artworks, which are all inspired by bicycling of course.”

Get Amped With DJ-120

imageI’ve never written a post on a family member so this is pretty rad and slightly veering from the norm of day to day posts; nevertheless… here it goes.

Layne Weber puts the create in Ride x Create… although he does skate and on the verge of picking up a fresh bicicleta. Layne (DJ-120) is a student at Belmont University in Nashville, TN pursuing music production on all levels. Now lets be honest… we’ve all had those friends that are really motivated to “kill it” only to get distracted by whatever takes precedence over the original vision (i.e. chemical consumption, ladies/dudes, other personal issues that may arise, etc.). That’s not Layne. He’s been pursuing music production for the last 6 years and currently at one of the best schools in the nation… one VERY driven dude.

Why am I sharing these fun facts with you? Simple… I’m proud of my cousin and have a creative platform to share that with you fine folks.

You may jam to what he’s produced, you may not. Regardless of that fact you should head over and check out a solid representation of what he’s created to this point. Jah blessed!

Shop Visit // Halcyon Bike Shop

imageI had the pleasure of exploring Nashville, TN this last weekend. With that I ran into the Halcyon Bike Shop and got to hook up an impromptu shop exploration session.

Little did I know that Halcyon was hosting the Battle of Nashville Alleycat the Saturday I was there. Guess I need to do my homework before random invasions like this. Regardless I was really impressed with the shop, what they stand for, and a solid mix of skate, art, used, and new bicycles to share with the Nashville community.

“At the core of Halcyon Bike are recycled and restored custom used bikes. Every year, Americans throw away used bicycles and spend thousands of dollars on new bicycles. At Halcyon Bike, we find these thrown out bikes, restore and customize them, and sell them to you at a fraction of the price of most new bikes. Select used frames are also available at Halcyon Bike; we will help you build a frame into a beautiful custom bicycle. Halcyon Bike also has a full bike service and repair shop, committed to providing the best service and experience for both bicycle and customer.”

Here are few shots. I hope you enjoy.

Also… go to Halcyon Bike Shop and read up on why you should support them. Rad stuff all around!
