Kicking it old school today with one of the very first alternative albums I ever owned. If you grew up in the early nineties, like we did, then you’ll probably find this album somewhat nostalgic. The thing I didn’t realize back then was that Dave Grohl actually recorded this album entirely by himself. What a bad ass! So if you’re in the mood for something a little rough around the edges and full of ass-kicking rock, then we highly recommend this album.

I can remember seeing the Foo Fighters live in concert and crowd surfing for the very first time. I can remember buying a huge wall poster of this album cover and hanging it above my bed. Something about the simplicity and mystery of the cover really drew me in to listening to them.

Check out this great post over on Sleevage about backstory on this album cover.

Ease The Mind Numb

Grocery Life

HAPPY FRIDAY!

So… yesterday evening, I’m in the middle of creating something that includes shooting a short video of myself; and I’m hitting a BIG creative wall.  My very rad wife notices my frustration and instructs me to go grab a 6’er (knowing that I’ve been beer free for the better part of 2 weeks now; gettin thangs done bruh!) to ease this mind numbing creative struggle that’s clearly frustrating me.  So I do just that.

On this simple journey to the grocery… I decide to chill and cruise the area to clear my mind in the hope inspiration will hit me on this outing.  The sun was setting, I rolled to the back of the local grocery and this shot popped in me brain bucket. Does it make sense? Is there meaning behind it? Do I care? Nope.

I snap, edit, post… and it turns out pretty cool.  So, I take this “see it, do it” mentality back to the casa and get it done!  In the words of Seth Godin “If you set your bar at ‘amazing’, it’s awfully difficult to start.” Take that to the bank!

I could never / I can’t / I’m not… has no place in creating.  Argue for your limitations and soon they will be yours.

Moral of the story…

RIDE x CREATE

Toy Machine Welcomes Blake Carpenter

Blake Carpenter on Toy Machine

Blake is one cool dude! Met him at the Toy Machine Demo earlier this year.

I genuinely dig everything about his style; so I’m pretty pumped that he’s officially, on board… with Toy Machine!!!

Make sure to purchase “Cosmic Vomit 2” to check out Blake and his mondo skate radery!

FOLLY // The Working Man

The Working Man

Oh man… I’m sure you’ve noticed a drop in day-to-day post radery.  This is a good thing.  WE ARE GROWING!! And with said growing, we’re experiencing some of those growing pains.

What does this mean:

I drink less / focus more / ride the same / value time / get educated / argue for no limitation

Kyle and I have been hoofin it heavy, and it’s all due to your GREAT support FOLLY friends!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

I just discovered Mr. Guthrie this past week thanks to Rdio. His new album “Takes Time” is a wonderful collection of chill sounds that will take the edge off any stressful day. I’ve found it plays best with the windows down and the bass bumping. But it’s also pleasing in my headphones while I’m getting work done. This album reminds me somewhere between the sounds of The Polyphonic Spree and a garage band.

You can check out jimguthrie.org for more info and his other musical endeavors.
