BAMAcross Epicity

It was such a beautiful day for the BAMAcross State Championship!  Had a great turn out and a really solid course to push yourself on.  I’ve rode a Surly Cross x Check for the last year and finally pulled the trigger on racing instead of just supporting(beers drank) and taking photos.  HA, couldn’t have picked a gnarlier course in the BAMAcross series to wet my whistle!

Davis Yarbrough always puts up one hell of a fight!  He’s currently sitting in a CAT 3 status and normally finishes in the top 5.  Unfortunately he had to break his consistent record and finished 7th.  No shame in that though.  Big competition was out that day due to the State Championship and the course was set appropriately for that.  Great work Davis, oh, and thanks for driving!

So, here’s a not so flattering photo of myself HA!  I reckon when you’re in “the shit” you put your game face on and high step it though the energy sucking death that was this mud.  I can’t express enough how much love I have for Cyclocross after this event.  It was absolutely picture perfect weather out and huge competition racing the field. Well, not so much for the CAT 4 group I raced with HA.  I finished 10th out of 22 which isn’t horrible for my first go at it, but when you look at the 45ish year old dude that crushed it in front of you, it’s a bit humbling.

If you are in the South East area,  I highly recommend coming out and supporting the BAMAcross series with your drinking abilities, heckling and hopefully racing skills.  I hope everyone had a great weekend filled with creativity and adventure. Ride x Create
