No shocks is shocking!

The minute the Giro Synthe hit the streets I wanted it with every ounce of my helmet wearing being. I had just picked up the POC Octal about a month before the Synthe was released last year. I needed a new helmet since my run in with a car took my AEON out, but couldn’t wait any longer and decided on the VERY solid Octal (also highly recommended).

There’s something about the Synthe that tickles my fancy… and a must buy if you’re in the market for a riding dome cover. I was going to wait a few weeks before doing a review on the Synthe but can’t hold it in. I’ve only ridden with it this week and I’M IN LOVE!!

Light, compact, style points, functional, and comfortable are a few words that describe the Giro Synthe. You know Giro did something right when a very large amount of cycling teams suit up with the Synthe. It’s a beautiful thing the Synthe is. “Few tools are used as frequently, and can cause as much heartache or wasted time as the seemingly simple hex key. It’s one of the first things you notice at the top levels of motorsport tools, or in the toolboxes of Pro-Tour mechanics: extremely high quality hex keys. The reasoning is simple, better tool fit leads to better feel and confidence for the mechanic as well as a significant reduction in the likelihood of damaging exotic fasteners made from Titanium or Aluminum.

 For the HX-One we had to start with the finest S-2 Tool Steel, a shock resistant steel which has been refined by Swiss and German toolmakers for the optimal balance of strength, hardness, shock resistance and dimensional control. S-2 yields stronger tools with much harder surfaces for prolonged tool life. The keys are then coated with thin-dense Chrome, a process generally reserved for mold tool components or optical grade surfaces inside molding tools. This coating provides the hardest, most dimensionally stable finish possible on each hex key. Finally, each tool is spray coated with a high-grip, high-visibility textured polymer finish for maximum grip and control. No more dropping your tools with greasy fingers or losing them on your workbench!

Included with the HX-One Essentials Kit is the proprietary SILCA 17-4 Stainless Magnetic Adapter. The Adapter with a pleasant magnetic click turns the 6mm Hex Key into a ¼” socket drive which can fit any common ¼” driver Bit. Included in the kit are the 6 most common Torx sizes, 2 Phillips Head and 2 Flat head Drivers. You can literally handle any modern bicycle fastener with the tools in the box.  

Each HX-One kit is lovingly packed into a fully CNC machined box made from sustainable Beech Wood. Each box is hand sanded and finished before receiving the stainless steel SILCA Shield on the lid.

 “One of our goals with this lifetime set of tools was to have it be completely one-hand accessible (we’ve all been there..). The fine Beechwood Box uses a magnetic closure system and each tool rests in a CNC machined slot, held in place by a single elastomeric tab. Things are looking good this year! Today was one HOT muggy one but I wanted to get out and check up on the good ol’ Wheeler Wildlife Refuge FOLLYCROSS loop for this years FOLLYCROSS 3.DOH! August 30th.

I hope you get the chance to come out, race, heckle, and hang as this will be the Bamacross Season opener. It’s always a light hearted fun time with friends… unless you’re not into that sort of thing…

BRO!!! These are so legit!! Style and function to the max. Nothing makes me more inline with a company than when I’ve stayed on the owners couch and drank their refrigerated refreshments. Great stuff all around Adam! Can stop! Will stop! Cheers bud!

I chose to go with the polarized option in “Vintage Havana”. I’ve been a black sunglasses guy for the better part of a decade. It was time to branch out and when I saw the Smith Optics Clark in this color way It was a done deal.

Super light weight with little rubber nose pieces that help keep the shades firmly attached to my face. Much needed when I’m out cruising in this Alabama humidity.

To sum it up… these are amazing. This is the second pair of Smith Optics sunglasses I’ve owned and I could be more pleased.

I can only imagine if SILCA is putting that much detail on half psi differences then the craftsmanship behind this pump have to be immaculate.
