I love seeing different paint jobs on the Argonaut space whips other than that of the traditional black and blue. Don’t get me wrong… those are bad ass as well… but paint jobs like this, they take the cake!
I nabbed this shot off of Argonaut Cycles Instagram. Make sure to go give them a follow to catch more stuff like this; especially since the Rouge Roubaix is right around the corner!

So… this is pretty rad! The Above Category colorway is sick!
Argonaut Cycles is proud to announce a new relationship with Above Category in Sausalito CA. As Argonaut continues to grow as a custom carbon fiber specialist, it’s important that consumers have access to the brand. Ordering a custom bike can be a daunting process, and Above Category’s entire goal is to break this barrier down.
To celebrate the partnership Argonaut and Above Category commissioned Brian Vernor to make a short film spotlighting both brands and their dedication to the custom market. Ben Farver, owner of Argonaut Cycles said, “Chad and the Above Category staff are committed to putting customers on their dream bikes. It’s a perfect fit for Argonaut, and we are proud to be in such great company.”
Above Category owner Chad Nordwall commented, “Our loyalty to the products we believe in has led to deep relationships with their creators. This personal connection with the people at Baum, Mosaic, Pegoretti, Pinarello, Q36.5, Campagnolo, Zipp and now Argonaut, allows an unparalleled level of insight and service.”
About Argonaut Cycles: Ben Farver of Argonaut started making steel frames in Portland OR in 2007. In 2010 Farver switched materials and began building custom carbon fiber frames made by hand in the USA. Argonaut controls every step of the process making the tooling, as well as the frame parts themselves in the USA. Argonaut recently won Best In Show at NAHBS, (North American Hand Built Bicycle Show) becoming the first carbon builder to receive this prestigious award.
About Above Category: Chad Nordwall established Above Category, almost 10 years ago, to share the very best in Cycling, Performance and Design. Located in Sausalito, California with a world wide customer base, they offer cyclists a select range of superlative cycling products with which they have first-hand, intimate and extensive experience. After pushing products to their limits, they are loyal to only products that are the finest in their class and provide customers with unmatched understanding, knowledge and service.

Chad’s Argonaut Spec List:
“Argonaut collaborated with Garrett Kautz of Strawfoot Handmade to make a simple, durable, elegant tool pouch. Made of domestically produced wax cotton, leather strap, and nickel plated buckle, these tool rolls are designed to carry all you need to fix your bike on the road. This tool roll can be carried in your jersey pocket or strapped to the rails of your saddle, it will keep a spare tube, multitool, C02, and some cash or cards dry and secure.” – Argonaut Cycles
This combo is pretty great! Go to Argonaut’s web shop and pick’em up while they last. I believe there are only 50’ish made. Jah blessed!

THIS!!
Ben Farver is one solid fella. I love this promo with Aether Apparel!
Enjoy. Get pumped. Go ride. Go create!
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Ben and checkout out his work space. He’s a super down to earth dude and his workspace is filled with amazing space bikes. He started the conversation with “So, what do you want to know?”. Super simple question and I really didn’t know where to start. Creating carbon bikes from scratch blows my find. It’s all too mystical for me to really understand, and that’s what I told Ben. He responded appropriately with “Yes, It’s really just magic”. After a quick giggle he brought out this rad book that shows how the designs are mapped out on a sheet of carbon, cut and molded. Creating carbon bikes still blows my mind… but I understand a bit more than I did before. Case and point… Argonaut bikes are custom and rad from start to finish.
It was also great to show up to Ben’s shop and see out skatedeck properly perched for mid day thrash sessions! And… out of all the stickable tool drawer space in his shop… only our 3×9 FOLLY die cut sticker was stuck!
Thank so much for letting me pick your brain a bit and check out your shop Ben! I’m very thankful for the support and level of creativity you bring to the cycling community! Cheers
