2nd Annual BMX Jam Hosted by David Cortez

imageDavid killing it the second year in a row (shown on the left shooting video)!! It’s always impressive to see who makes it out to this rad BMX Jam in the small town of Hartselle, AL. David pulls together folks near and far. Luckily I’m only about 30 minutes away so it’s a no brainer to pop in and do my best to photo document the event. Plus… my bud Chris Rost was out nailing it. Never a bad time shooting this dude.imageimageDavid Cortez getting up.imageChris Rost. Grind 360 out. Never quite stuck it but got damn close. The whole event was cheering him on.imageAs the day went on and my conveniently place Poler koozie at my side… the beers kept flowing as the Jam rolled on. But lets be honest… who doesn’t get that extra creative spark after a few adult beverages? You tend to be a bit more explorative and willing to get that shot you may overlook otherwise. It’s really a fine line between “creative drinking” vs. “now I’m drunk”.imageimageThis dude! Named “The Brit”, started pushing flares on the quarter and eating it pretty good. He got so close, but after a couple hard slams he gave them up for the day.

I hope you dig. If you’re in the area you should come out and support this next year. You can follow along on David Cortez’s social media goodness via Twitter and Instagram. I hope you will. Cheers!

BY THE POWER OF INSTAGRAM!!!

Yup, so I was just chilling, playing with my son and I saw David Cortez post this spot. “I know this spot” said I, and away I zoomed to meet up and take a couple snaps (Editors Note: Don’t worry, Isaac was in good hands with his mom.)

I love impromptu meet ups of the radest kind. Chris and David always have such good perspective on creating lines in spots like this. It definitely meshes with the Ride x Create vibe. To view something that most see as nothing is the goal. These guys dominated that goal.

David was a hard dude to capture.  This was the beginning of his line so he was flying.  Chris was a bit easier to capture since he already had a couple feet grinded. Slowed him a bit, and I could snap away.
