Robert (IG @nois7) contacted me after Instagram featured my shot of Chris Rost launching out of a bowl at the local skate park. The shot turned out pretty cool on a couple different levels. I asked Chris what he could hook up out of the deep end of the bowl, he said “I don’t normally launch out of deep end, but I think I’ve got something”. I get down into the bowl and find a spot just to the right of the center where Chris is gonna jam through. He has a two pass set up before hitting the trick. This works out great for me so my iPhone can focus on the right spot. Pass one, two… no go. I ask Chris what he’s trying to get and he says “a toboggan, I’ve never done it before”. WOWZA! I’m getting pumped and way more focused on getting this shot! After a dozen or so attempts I can see Chris isn’t feeling it. I let him know there’s no pressure from me, we can get it later. I start to get up and climb out of the bowl and Chris gets way confident! “I got this man, right here!”, so I kneel down a bit outside of where I would have wanted to snap the shot, not confident that Chris is gonna nail it, and then BAM! Sucker hits it up. He proved me wrong and taught me a lesson in being patient. But who knows, it could have been that push to ‘get it now or it won’t get got’.
With all that said, Robert asks me to contact him, expressing he would like to do an edit of this shot for his “Rooftop Series”. “I would like to continue my NY skateboard series but this time with a BMX shot.” After checking out his FB Page and other collaborations in his Instagram Feed, I’m confident Roberts a nice fella that will put together a very rad edit! And that he did!!
