This is going to be so. good!! So many great events going down this weekend. Check it!!
“Chrome Industries announces the live screening of its first short film this Friday, December 13th at noon west coast time. Chrome will temporarily take over its website for the screening from 12:00 to 12:30 pm. The Chrome Crew worked with Portland natives Kamp Grizzly to document Massan Fluker taking his track bike and Chrome’s new Barrage Rolltop to the hills and bridges of Portland. The final 3 minute short includes some of the best riding Portland has to offer including an epic decent of Burnside at +40 mph. Set your phone alarms for noon this Friday to catch the live screening. Spread the word.” – Chrome

I guess you know what you’ll be doing Friday and Saturday night. Swift Industires at Velo Cult… never a bad combo.
“Christopher is an instant friend to anyone that meets him.” – Murph
He really is!! What an amazing fella. Aaron Edge and I had the absolute pleasure of checking this out behind the scenes. We also shared in a few drinks and food afterwards. Really great job by SWOBO. If you haven’t checked them out… you really should. I sincerely dig the Movers and Makers project.
(two more randoms from the day)
Enjoy. Get inspired. Ride x Create!
“I got a few decent close up photos of the bike and another photo of Ty making a face.” – Jeremy Dunn
This is pretty great. I dig how Jeremy writes. Go to The Athletic and check out his write up on Stinner Frameworks x Mudfoot. You will smile.
Bend it like Bryant.
“There’s always more than one way to get it done. This is how I bend my fork blades. The fixture is in continual evolution as I build more, but there it is as of now.” – Joshua Bryant
It seems like right after I leave Portland everyone is visiting that great city! Matt Lingo had the opportunity to go and shoot for Chrome Industries and Leader all in one trip (best trip status). With all that greatness happening, photo bro love between Matt and Damian Riehl happened… but I’ll let you read about that for yourself.
The reason I bring up good ol’ Damian is right before I went out with Aaron Edge and Joshua Bryant on our ride of the 11 Portland bridges… I ran into Damian at Stumptown. Aaron informed me that Damian was a messenger and very rad photographer. So my initial thought was… ‘SWEET! I want to meet that dude’ . Super nice and genuine fella! Hopefully next trip to the great NW will incorporate a ride with him.
Anyways… Mr. Lingo is always bringing the heat with super solid photos! Go check out the recap of Matt’s trip. It brought back good memories. This shot was my favorite of the bunch.
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Ben and checkout out his work space. He’s a super down to earth dude and his workspace is filled with amazing space bikes. He started the conversation with “So, what do you want to know?”. Super simple question and I really didn’t know where to start. Creating carbon bikes from scratch blows my find. It’s all too mystical for me to really understand, and that’s what I told Ben. He responded appropriately with “Yes, It’s really just magic”. After a quick giggle he brought out this rad book that shows how the designs are mapped out on a sheet of carbon, cut and molded. Creating carbon bikes still blows my mind… but I understand a bit more than I did before. Case and point… Argonaut bikes are custom and rad from start to finish.
It was also great to show up to Ben’s shop and see out skatedeck properly perched for mid day thrash sessions! And… out of all the stickable tool drawer space in his shop… only our 3×9 FOLLY die cut sticker was stuck!
Thank so much for letting me pick your brain a bit and check out your shop Ben! I’m very thankful for the support and level of creativity you bring to the cycling community! Cheers
RIDE x CREATE
Oh man! This was a defining part of the trip. So random and great. Jeremy casually mentioned he was shooting at Velo Cult. Didn’t really know what that meant but I was down. Aaron, Tim and I were done riding our Portland hillside awesome ride, got food and cleaned up… next stop Velo Cult!
Low and behold… Chris Igleheart was the subject. What an amazing dude all around. This fine fella has been a pioneer and taught many many frame builders that are killing it today! If you haven’t done your homework on Igleheart, you really should. Dude is so rad and so are his creations.
Of course I wasn’t gonna let these fellas get out of this gathering without a FOLLY Koozie. They exude the Ride x Create vibe and very much deserve the Folly Seal of Awesome!
I hope you dig! Go check out Chris Igleheart, Jeremy Dunn (he also does this rad thing), and Velo Cult.
Mr. Wesolowski is one VERY rad fella! If only I could describe the conversation Aaron Edge, Tim and I had over dinner… you would giggle guaranteed. Aaron has a video of the mas shenanigans. Maybe he will share it with the world one day.
With that said, Tim is one rock solid rider and mechanic. He dominates with his mechanical skills at 21st Ave. Bicycles. If you’re in the area you should pop in, high five those rad folks and bring some sharable beverage. You will make lifelong friends.
Cheers Tim and 21st Ave. folks! Great to meet you good sirs.
